Debra Taylor’s Spirit of Life Boutique is a beautiful lingerie shop that specialises in taking care of ladies who have been through breast surgery. Debra is a highly respected breast form fitter and is in ranked the top 10 globally in terms of her experience and skill. Here she’s in conversation with Julie Gallagher about her range of Bra options:
Deb Today I thought I’d share some of the different styles we have in bras for ladies who are wearing breast forms. We try to cater for all ages, Julie. I’ve had girls as young as 15 through to women of 97 so I obviously need to be able to cater for everybody. That’s what Spirit of Life does. We have beautiful, coloured bras. Hot pinks and pretty, lacy t-shirt bras as well with matching briefs
Julie That’s a lovely set. A gorgeous ivory colour with royal blue. Stunning.
Deb They are Julie. We also have front opening bras for ladies who might have a bit of arthritis or shoulder problems. You can still adjust it at the back but girls can put it up in front as well and do it up themselves.
Julie Do you have fuller sized bras?
Deb We do...and for bigger backs. We go to a size 28 F Cup for the fuller ladies. They come in skin colour, ivory and black. They have lovely, padded shoulders because quite often, when you have a heavy breast, it cuts into the shoulder and you can end up with quite a dint in the shoulder. These prevent that and lend a lot of support. Nice and wide at the back and in a lovely lace. They come in different colours and I have them in store all the time. We also have some really pretty ones with a bit of sparkle in them. They have beautiful skin tone colouring with just a little gold fleck through them
Julie I really like the little padded shoulders too.
Deb Beautiful aren’t they. We also have t-shirt bras that don’t have padding for those ladies who don’t like that shape. And we have really soft ones without seams through the centre so, when ladies wear them under a t-shirt, you don’t see any seams at all. It just looks nice and smooth.
Julie And I know you’re excited about the new, sports bras that have just come in.
Deb I am Julie, particularly the T-back. What makes it special, apart from having pockets, is that it comes down a lot lower so it’s not just under the bust. It has quite a wide band, so if you’re on a running machine, for example, its not going to move. One has a hook and eye in the front and a zipper, which means you can even do weights and there’s no way that its going to move. T-back is brilliant because it’s not going to be pulling on your shoulders which some of the sports bras can do when you’re doing weights. The T-back stops that happening. It’s understandably very popular and comes in black and different sizes.
Julie It certainly looks very functional and effective.
Deb It is and goes to size 22 which is great. Not a lot of people cater for the bigger back, but we do. As you know we try hard to cater for everyone.
