Spirit of Life Boutique
Debra Taylor’s Spirit of Life Boutique is a beautiful lingerie shop that specialises in taking care of ladies who have been through breast surgery. Debra is a highly respected breast-form fitter and is in the top 10 globally in terms of her experience and skill. Here she’s in conversation with Julie Gallagher about her range of Valletta tops:
Debra These are really beautiful Valletta tops. They come in different colours and range in size from 8 to 26. They’re made from a lovely,soft microfibre. They have a little contour in them and they’re pocketed both sides. Around the back, you’ll see it has power knitting and that pulls everything in...but it doesn’t cut into you.
Julie I imagine that makes them perfect for travel as well.
Debra Very true Julie. Quite often, girls who are going on flights anywhere just wear them for the flights because, as you know, we build up a little fluid, and it doesn’t cut. And in summertime they’re fantastic as a top to wear with your Capri pants or a skirt. Sometimes, if you’re very conscious of your arms (because it’s a little singlet top), you could actually wear just a loose blouse that opens up in the front.
Julie That makes them extremely versatile, doesn’t it. What colours do they come in Deb?
Debra They come in fashionable and seasonal colours Julie, but basic colours like black,white and a nude colour are available all year. We have a passionate pink one and the latest colour we have at the Boutique is apricot. We also have a gorgeous cornflower blue coming in September. That will be the new colour for spring. The basic colours are available all the time but, if you want colour, you need to get them when they are in the season.
Julie I love cornflower blue. They actually look like something anyone could wear anytime.
Debra That’s true. My sister and I haven’t had a mastectomy and we wear them all the time. They’re so comfortable. And you just wash it, hang it up and wear it the next day. I wash it in a bra bag so it doesn’t stretch, which makes it perfect for travelling.
Julie And it’s made from microfibre?
Debra Yes, so it’s very soft and doesn’t crease. Which mean you can hop off the plane after 20 hours and it looks fresh, which is excellent. They’re very popular with ladies throughout Queensland (and the rest of Australia) and are in store all the time.
